walhalla for mountainbikers and cyclists

TOUR DE FRANCE 2021 - MONT VENTOUX

On Wednesday, July 7, 2021, the double ascent of Mont Ventoux was on the program and the tour stage ended in Malaucène. First the climb was made from Sault, then the riders went up from Bédoin. After the summit it is then another 22 kilometers to the finish line in a descent to Malaucène. Wout van Aert won this heroic stage, with Bauke Mollema in a respectable 3rd place. They could not join the Club des Cingles du Mont-Ventoux this day. The association was founded in 1988 for the group of 'slightly deranged' (cinglé means crazy) that climbed the Ventoux from all three sides within one day. Stamps from the souvenir shop or restaurants must be submitted as proof and access to the Guild of Mallots.

mountainbike - eternal fame

Eternal fame by becoming Forestier or Grandonneuron Mont Ventoux!

Conquering the Mont Ventoux by road is already quite a task, but on MTB this is quite a heroic achievement. In addition to the three paved roads, there are several dirt roads that lead you to the top. These paths are called 'routes forestières'. Here you can see (just like with the cyclists) titles to be won. With 2 unpaved climbs in 1 day you can call yourself Forestier and with 3 even Grandonneur (3x). If you have this ambition, you must register in advance at De Kale Berg. Then you will receive a stamp card, the regulations and detailed maps of the routes. You then have the stamp card stamped in the three villages and on the top. At the end of your MTB adventure, send the completed stamp card back and also mail a report and photos as proof. When you've done all this, your coveted title is in.
